Queen's Day.

Wednesday was Queen's Day here, so it was a holiday. It is to commemorate the Queen's birthday; joke is, 30the April is not her birthday! It is the previous queen's bday, the current one's is in winter, so she doesn't want to have the celebrations then, so yar, she chose to keep the old one. My Dutch friend said it would be interesting to see what happens after she retires next year and her son takes over; whether Queen's day will be 'King's day' then and whether the date will be changed. Oh well.

Anyway, the Dutch have massive celebrations on this day. They paint the city orange! All major roads are closed as people take to the streets, and set up flea markets almost everywhere. People sell everything and anything. Everyone was partying all along the streets too. So yup, here is my day, expressed in pictures (since my hp is up and running!).

Everyone was feeling patriotic,I was no different.

I decided to blend in soon after.

Oh, on Monday, i went to a carnival with my American neighbour, Jerome. My handphone was still spoilt then, so couldn't take photos. Jerome did though, and as soon as he passes me the pics I'll upload it here. In the meantime, these are the rides that we took.

I still feel dizzy, just by looking at this.

And other pics...

With a random guy on the street.

On the street.

I'm sure many wish we had this 'sign' in Singapore.

After a day in the busy are of the city, we decided to go somewhere nice to wind down.

Yup. Very very nice few days for me. Superb actually. These are some of the best days of my life.

On another note, Pool fans, where art thou? All 6 of you, please show up. I was gentleman enough the last time; time for you guys to return the favour. I'm waiting. Tick tock.

mr anonymous I almost thought u said the better team lost today ala Jose Mourinho.. yest should be the final?? though it was good, hardly a display worth being a final.. unlike Istanbul..

hey bro, sorry ah. it was a thriller by any standards. i am not sure whether any kop fans would agree with me but i do hope chelsea win the champions league cuz chelsea beat liverpool. just like how i supported barnsley for fa cup after they beat liverpool. oh well. its football. im looking forward to russia. To russia with love. ok that is another random thought. anyways walid... u look like a drag queen/drag mama with those feathery thing arnd ur neck. hahahhahah. its not u la bro. so lose it yea.

To Russia with love? That was a soccernet headline yesterday.

of course as a die hard kop fan , i will be rooting for chelsea. im confident to say tat chelsea will be champions .n i still think man u dont deserve to be in e final cause all along they have been poor in e champ league. even their so called king cant perform during e big stage unlike torres .. chelsea will lift the cup in moscow to please abramovich..

Yeah! It's the QUEEN BIRTHDAY! (Yes Akmal, it happens everywhere not only in BKK) ;-) So sad I couldn't celeb the QUEEN BIRTHDAY! Hey btw, one guy in Thailand was charged for not standing before the show start (lucky we did!). He said he was just there to enjoy the movie & not for some political nuance........hahaa!

eh hello mr anonymous, this is a team competition ok, not an individual competition..so don compare torres with ronaldo..no matter how "great" torres is, did he bring liverpool to the final?

makan boleh sembarang makan mr anonymous, cakap jgn sembarang cakap..

Anonymous said...

Haha........well, with the hat, you can definitely pass off as one of the locals! Hmm....so any good catch???? Haha.........oki, counting down now.......Can't wait to see AMS.....oops! I mean can't wait to see you ;-)

Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser.

campione,u can claim to be a champion but ur team can never be champions of europe... just accept e reality.. n ronaldo is just a kampong player tat cant never perform at big stage

Anonymous said...

but u see mr anonymous, liverpool may have won the champs league more, but being champions of europe may not necessarily mean ur the best of the best..when's the last time liverpool won the premier league? don be so sad mr anonymous..its ok for liverpool to not win the champs league and the league titles..just accept the reality..

ronaldo a 'kampong' player? well at least this 'kampong' player won player of the season medal..not one but two! and maybe a third one after champs league..

I'm a gentleman and therefore, I'm here to post a comment. Sorry for being late though. Haven't been checking this blog due to exams.

Well, my gut feeling was right. But we were close still. In any case, definitely Chelsea all the way in the final. If Man Yoo wins, I'll avoid all newspaper reports, and smses from their fans.

Nice one mate. Gentlemen are always welcomed at this blog.

And yar, i guess we should all call a truce now. Coz now, we all have a common foe. Down with Man U!
